See below tributes to our members of leadership who have passed on to glory with the Lord.

Natalie Tynes
16-Dec-1967 - 20-Jul-2024
Natalie Tynes became a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in 1994 after moving to Winnipeg with her parents, the late Rev. Calvin Symonds and Carole Symonds. She sang in the choir for several years. Later on, Natalie also became a Deaconess. Natalie’s true gift was preaching the Word. Natalie started by only preaching on holidays and special occasions, then eventually when Pilgrim was without a minister, she would preach and lead testimonies on every fourth Sunday. She continued to preach until her health started to deteriorate in 2022. Natalie loved the Lord and loved Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member and will forever be missed.

Evan Tynes
Above all, Evan Tynes was a true man of God. He grew up in Pilgrim Baptist Church where he was part of the youth group and choir; he later became a deacon and leader of the church. His sermons were from the heart and inspired by God. He was involved in the brotherhood, youth group, and many other committees. Evan sang many solos and people often requested them as they touched the soul. His love of music extended to playing the drums and tambourine. Evan could listen to a tune and pick it up on the piano or guitar as well, a natural talent. His contributions to the church will truly be missed. He was a pillar of our church. He has finished the race and is surely with our Heavenly Father.

Herbert Carvery
5-Aug-1933 - 16-March-2020
Herb’s relationship and love for God began in 1982, when he became involved with directing and playing piano for Pilgrim Baptist church’s gospel choir, other church choirs and a number of soloists, which he continued to do for many years. Herb was a willing worker and volunteer in his church as a Treasurer and Deacon. He helped and encouraged many people by giving advice and support, on many occasions, that would help them in following the paths of their choice.
